One of Southport’s most popular Italian restaurants is opening in the heart of Liverpool’s business district.
Restaurateur and chef Attilio Sergi will open his second Trattoria 51 later this month on Old Hall Street at the former Jigsaw Bistro site. The restaurant will offer a large seating capacity split between two floors and feature authentic Italian flavours in a friendly atmosphere.
The menu will include a vast selection of mains including, pizza, pasta, classic Italian dishes and daily specials, in addition to starters, desserts and children’s meals.
Attilio, who has worked in a variety of Europe’s finest eateries throughout his career, said: “We want to bring a true taste of Italy to Liverpool. Trattoria 51 will offer authentic food and drink six days a week and provide a hub for people to feel right at home – night or day.”
The Puglian chef will be joined at the new venture by restaurant manager Toni Karemanj, who he has worked with since 2003, and head chef and friend Gianluigi Sedda, who he met in Jersey at the luxury eatery Grill at L’ Horizon in 1986.
Gianluigi has worked at top restaurant Romantico Ticino in Switzerland and ran his own restaurant in Lake Como, before moving to Liverpool six months ago to complete the team.
Attilio added: “Between the three of us, we have nearly 100 years of experience in the restaurant industry so this is a very exciting time for everyone that is involved. We look forward to opening in Liverpool and our aim is to deliver a truly authentic Italian eating experience that is honestly priced and enjoyable for all.”
