Liverpool World Mental Health Day Takes Over City With Professor Green & More 10th October

World Mental Health Day 2015 (Saturday 10th October) is almost upon us but this year’s World Mental Health Day Festival is already up and running.

The festival includes nearly 50 free events throughout the city during October and will offer music, dance, art, comedy, film, circus skills, creative writing, neighbourhood events, training, advice, information and support… and more!

The central hub on Saturday 10th October will be Williamson Square, where activities will be taking place from 10.00am to 5.30pm.

There’ll be something for everyone – information stalls, circus performances from Freefall Circus and music, dance and fantastic entertainment programmed by Threshold Festival.

The Lord Mayor, Tony Concepcion, will be in attendance and the day will culminate with The Big Choir Off which will bring 15 local choirs together to sing en masse for the first time – it’s not to be missed!

The aims of the festival are to raise awareness of the importance of looking after our mental wellbeing and to challenge stigma. Organisers are delighted that internationally acclaimed artists The Singh Twins and Professor Green are endorsing World Mental Health Day in Liverpool by their involvement in the ‘Dignity in Mental Health’ art exhibition and the ‘Mental Health & Me’ writing competition respectively.

The Festival has been co-ordinated for the 6th year by Liverpool Mental Health Consortium, a user-led charity which, in its 20 year existence, has become a community of service users, voluntary and statutory sector providers and commissioners who come together equally as mental health stakeholders.

We’ll be working with mental health service users and our partners from the statutory and voluntary sectors – including those working in mental health, public health, social care, housing, advice, education and the arts – to make this Liverpool’s best ever World Mental Health Day festival.
