Independent Liverpool Christmas Festival Preview

You asked, and they sure delivered. Independent Liverpool’s Christmas Festival is back next weekend for a second year in a row, transforming The Great Baltic Warehouse into a festive extravaganza from Thursday 8th until Sunday 11th of December. With the holiday season creeping up at a terrifying pace, it’s time to get a head start on eating and drinking ourselves silly, and what better way to do it than coming together and celebrating this city’s fantastic Independent Businesses.

As always, there’ll be an impressive variety of eateries at the festival. Bold Street’s Bakchich will be there to excite your taste buds, with their very own Lebanese twist on a Scouse Christmas and The Scandinavian newcomer HUS will be making their Christmas debut, serving up Swedish meatballs and Scandi cocktails. As well as plenty more savoury eateries, The Interesting Eatery Company will be serving up Nutella crepes, and Laura’s Little Bakery are bringing mulled wine brownies! Sorry, waistline.

Also announced to serve up food & drink treats all weekend are Finca, Barley & Beans, Koop, Neighbourhood Coffee, Black Lodge Brewery, Evil Eye Burrito & more!

These days, we don’t really need an excuse to have a drink. New job? Monday’s over? You name it. Nevertheless, it’s nice to have an excuse, and the variety of bars at this year’s Christmas Festival is sure to meet everyone’s needs. Keith’s Wine Bar of Lark Lane will be offering Prosecco, and the gin garden is opening exclusively for the weekend, transforming into a mulled wine garden. The bailey’s bar pop up “Me Nan’s” will be taking over the Greenhouse space, complete with antiques and old furniture; everyone will get the chance to celebrate Christmas with their favourite Scouse Nan! As always, Liverpool Craft Corner will be making an appearance to satisfy the needs of beer lovers from all over the city.

“But what about the kids!” I hear you cry. Don’t let the glorious variety of bars deceive you; this event is suitable for all the family! There’s no extra charge for bringing the little ones along, and the Independent Liverpool lot have even managed to persuade Santa to pop in and keep them entertained in the kid’s corner whilst you get to explore the Grown Up Grinch’s Grotto, complete with black tinsel and whiskey cocktails.

On top of all of that, there’ll be bakeries, and a gift shop! Don’t forget to check out all the fantastic locals arts and crafts that will be on display; a great way of finding unique presents, all whilst supporting the incredible talent that there is in Liverpool and avoiding the rush of the city centre at Christmas time! There’s even the opportunity to order your Christmas Tree if you’ve left it a little late. There’ll be music from local DJs, and a performance from carol singers with a twist to keep spirits high right into the winter night.
