Imagine Mosaic Unveiled At Salvation Army Gardens At Strawberry Field

From NYC’s Central Park to Liverpool, Mozaico Brings Iconic Mosaic Design to the UK.

Leading handcrafted mosaic art producer, Mozaico, reveals its latest artwork installed in the Salvation Army Gardens in Liverpool, UK.

Based on the iconic Imagine mosaic memorial to the legendary John Lennon installed in Strawberry Fields of New York City’s Central Park, Mozaico’s design has been created in the style of Portuguese paving with visual references to the Greco-Roman artistic tradition.

Commissioned by the Salvation Army in Strawberry Fields, Mozaico took inspiration from the iconic Imagine mosaic located in New York’s Central Park to create this large medallion mosaic measuring 6.4 meters in diameter.

The Salvation Army in Liverpool is renowned for its valuable community service providing specialised care for young adults with disabilities, offering educational, cultural and spiritual training to assist them in finding meaningful employment.

The ‘Imagine’ mosaic reflects these core virtues of peace, tranquility and love as a harmonious continuation of the charity’s mission.

It took 16 consecutive weeks for Mozaico’s craftsmen to complete this impressive mosaic which consists of thousands of natural stone tessera. Four Mozaico artists put together mosaic pieces using their fingers or even tweezers to place and glue the tiles, sometimes trimming pieces to fit perfectly within an area.

Assembling the artwork by hand ensured the unmatched quality and durability of the design, which is essential for preserving its condition given its installation in a public space. Apart from the highest quality production and free shipping, Mozaico also provides a lifetime guarantee for all their mosaic designs.

The mosaic has now reached its final destination in Liverpool’s Strawberry Fields, the very same place that gave its name to the famous Beatles song, located close to Lennon’s childhood home in Woolton, Liverpool. The famous musician grew up playing in these very gardens, as well as watching the Salvation Army Brass Band practicing.

Just as the Beatles hit ‘Imagine’ bears the message of peace and hope, so too does the ‘Imagine’ mosaic. Mozaico’s artwork has quickly become a centerpiece of the Salvation Army gardens, enhancing the landscape design and commemorating the iconic Liverpool musician.
