Newcomer Henry Jones Releases Dreamy Debut Single

As many musicians find themselves isolated, it’s important to note that while for some this is taken in its quarantine context, for many it can be quite a lonely time to be mentally isolated. Henry Jones has burst onto the scene with his assessment and ode to the ‘temporarily alone‘ in this hazy and thought-evoking song As Soon As I

It’s certainly worth noting Jones recorded this song in its entirety in his own bedroom, harking back to the indie/DIY sound that has been so popular in the past. As Soon As I, with it’s layered textures and playful sound, quickly swirls into a soundscape that is almost like a soundtrack to a daydream. Similarly, with its lack of generic structure (verse, chorus, verse etc) it serves its purpose in invoking a very easy-listening and well created song that looks toward the sunny horizon. Written as a commentary to the current situation we’re facing, Jones, based in Liverpool, is simply looking ahead to a time after isolation. “As soon as I see the sky…”

In lieu of a standard middle eight we have a spoken element which relays a potential phone call with a friend simply checking in. “How you doing?…I was just calling to check in really…I know it’s tough right now but it’s early days”. The chorus line is the hook, and one that you’ll likely be whistling afterwards too.

Henry Jones will be releasing this on the 8 May, and likely we’ll still be here so it’ll be more than apt to start looking forward to those first beer-garden sips and hugs. In the meantime, you’ll have to lose yourself in this beautiful song by this Liverpool newcomer!
