mUmU Reveals Spring & Summer Events Programme

Fresh from the immense success of their 9th birthday party at the start of the year, the celebrated mUmU are now laying down their vision for the coming months with three shows across spring and summer.

As one of the UK’s bastions of techno, the Liverpool session has remained very much true to its original roots, cultivating a loyal crowd who have followed mUmU’s growth and nomadic travels across the city, now setting up home predominantly in the renascent Baltic Triangle. Already looking ahead to its 10th birthday in Feb 2018, the next few parties will chart the party’s course to that very special date, traversing the myriad varieties of techno in its many glorious electronic forms by bringing four very special guests to the city in the coming months.

First up though is a much more intimate session, with mUmU’s resident Lee Rands playing all night long at North Shore Troubadour on Easter Sunday April 16th. Lee has been a part of the club since day one, and remains its underpinning and inspiration behind the decks.

Then on bank holiday Sunday May 28th at the New Bird Warehouse, there’s a real techno feast to savour, with two titans of the scene touching down. Founder of his Dystopian parties and record label, Rødhåd is a seminal figure whose style is always deep, powerful and melancholic, from dub to techno and back to house.  Serbian spinner Tijana T is a fellow master behind the decks, who has performed in Ibiza, Berlin’s Panorama Bar and New York’s Output. She has been a key figure in the Belgrade nightlife for over a decade, and is a vibrant and energetic performer behind the decks. Lee Rands provides the support.

For the annual August Bank Holiday session at the Great Baltic Warehouse they have recruited two of the most forward-thinking and in-demand artists of the techno scene. DJ and producer Marcel Dettmann is recognised as one of the most influential proponents of contemporary techno, his name synonymous with Berlin, Berghain and Hard Wax. His stellar sets encompass the finest techno and banging Chicago sounds, merging old and new tunes from the past twenty-five years to incredible effect. And fellow Berghain resident and childhood friend of Marcel, Answer Code Request, joins the party; since his Subway Into EP brought him to the fore, he now continues to reinvent the very music which he plays and produces. It’s heavy duty, rhythmically entrancing material from one of German’s premier techno artists, who brings further textured layers of techno to mUmU. The club’s resident Lee Rands supports.

Further shows will be announced for later in the year.
