Matchbox Comedy Club Comedy Festival Special 19th October

In a Liverpool Comedy Festival special edition, Matchbox Comedy Club have cherry picked a selection of the best acts that the festival has to offer.

A night of mini-previews, little tasters of shows you can see throughout the festival, every single one of the acts on our bill comes with the Lantern’s personal recommendation.

Join The Lantern Theatre for character comedy in the form of Terry Arlarse, Liverpool’s favourite “friendly but aggressive” scouse-as-nails beat poet. Terry is the creation of Lee Hithersay, who makes up one third of grotesquely hilarious sketch troupe, Sketch Fest 2015 Finalists, the Legion of Doom.

They will also have hyper-high-energy stand up from James Ross. Left-field, literate comedy from a charmingly moustachioed comic.

Headlining the evening will be Liam Pickford – recently named runner-up in Chortle Student Comedian of the Year, Pickford’s brand of aggressively funny stand up is quickly becoming infamous across the country. Expect uncompromising comedy / breakdown from this articulate and embittered young man. “He’s got funny bones, and a scattergun mind that doesn’t work quite like anyone else’s”- Chortle “Strangely hypnotic”- The Skinny
