Cuthbert’s Bakehouse; Review

Cuthbert's Bakehouse Liverpool

It was only the other day I was thinking that there isn’t enough vintage tea shops around, and then I came across a cute little bakery – right in the centre of Mount Pleasant.

My friend and I were stunned when we spotted the little bakehouse, expecting a massive colourful sign that shows off and is a bit too much in your face, but instead it was a simple black sign that we almost walked past – however, was still very pleasing to the eye.

The place had a warm homely feeling to it and we were at ease instantly. As soon as we sat down to our reserved table we were greeted with friendly smiles and offering of Sparkling Prosecco at £4 a glass, how could you refuse?

We were presented with a 3-tier selection of mouth-watering food ranging from tea scones with cream and jam, sandwiches, macaroons and cakes to die for. The chocolate cake was my favourite whilst my friend more enjoyed the taste of the different flavoured macaroons.

I take myself as a really fussy eater at the best of times, but I can say for sure that the Cuthbert’s Bakehouse will provide you with a variety of the best quality food and drinks, suitable for all ages. Drinks ranged from bottles or glasses of wine, Prosecco, spirits, soft drinks and milkshakes. My friend and I are huge lovers of milkshakes (yes, even at our age) and we just had to get one, she tried the chocolate and I went for a good old strawberry (you can’t go wrong with the classics!) Mixed with Archers Ice Cream, the milkshakes were just full of flavour and were the most delicious drinks we had tasted, and at £3.50 a go, they just kept coming.

What my favourite thing is about the bakehouse is that its appearance is very deceiving. When I walked in I just assumed it was a small place for their locals, only to find that there was another room which opened up to an outdoor garden, which also looked the part with vintage outdoor seating and tables.

I have always wanted to have a local tea shop I can pop in to after work or a good day of shopping, one that not everyone knows about – a real hidden gem, and now I do! Thanks Cuthbert’s, you will definitely be seeing me again soon.
