Band Feature; The Isrights

Merging multiple genres, The Isrights dip into a bit of punk, reggae, psychedelic and dub sounds in their songs. The band – comprising Ché Wilson on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Matt McNamara on lead guitar and backing vocals, Jack Hendrie on drums, and Jamie Wall on bass – are growing quite a name for themselves locally, and already have the impressive title of having played a sold-out headline show at Liverpool’s O2 Academy under their belts.

Signed to xjukebox Records, the band are not afraid of trying out different sounds. Newest single ‘Real?’ has all the makings of an indie success, and is sure to be welcomed by thrashing crowds when played live.

Instrumental track ‘You Know’ is a lively number that will draw comparisons to Artic Monkeys at the beginning, with its strong focus on a high-tempo guitar and drum mosh-up. Halfway through the track reggae sounds start to creep in bringing a more chilled vibe, before a slick layer of guitar riffs rounds things off.

From their debut releases, ‘Drinking Game’ is perhaps their grittiest track to date. Its volatile urgency will definitely be a crowd-pleaser, especially to fans that love the early works of indie big-name artists such as Artic Monkeys, The Killers and Franz Ferdinand.

The surfy opening of ‘Summer ‘05’ is rather different to their other tracks. Conjuring up memories of long lost summers spent chilling with friends, Wilson cooes ‘summer ’05, time of my life’ – summer never felt further away!

The four-piece are set to play a live event organised by Liverpool Noise and The Pentatonic at The Jacaranda Club on 10th December. Other acts include The Floormen, Mad Alice and L U M E N, with donations going to the mental health charity Mind. Join the Facebook event page to see all the details.
