Baltic Market’s 1st Birthday To Be Marked With A Huge Party

Liverpool’s first street food market are blowing out their 1st Birthday candle in a big way.

Late June 2017 saw a disused warehouse in the Cains Brewery turn in to something very different. Originally the former distribution and mass refrigeration part of Cains Brewery, it was turned in to a foodie Mecca by the guys behind Independent Liverpool and local street food legend Tim Haggis, famed for his halloumi fries.

The idea behind the Baltic Market was to provide a platform for Liverpool’s amazing independent businesses. Whether they be slinging out tasty burgers until the early hours on a Saturday or a local producer parading local asparagus from the early hours of Sunday. On average the market has attracted seven thousand people a week and was recently declared the best thing to do in Liverpool on a weekend away by Time Out London.

David Williams, co-founder of Independent Liverpool and Baltic Market said:

“Taking on this space was one of the most terrifying and rewarding things we’ve ever done. We can’t believe the support we’ve received off people and the sheer amount of people that have turned up. What this space has done for independent businesses is more than we could have ever imagined we’d be able to do. From local bands performing to hundreds of people, local breweries selling crazy amounts of beer and from local producers selling out in our Sunday markets. It’s such a special space and we can’t believe it has been a year. Time flies, eh?”

The 1st birthday celebration promises to be much more of the same fun with a jam-packed weekend-long party. Lots of music, free prosecco, drinks deals, all weekend, brand new food traders, a jazz filled Sunday, England vs Belgium on the big screen, a special performance from the Ukebox boys, a massive birthday cake and an outdoor Sunday market to just name a few. The perfect opportunity to check out everything Cains Brewery Village has to offer: from craft beer bars to alternative golf and from Peaky Blinders bars to Camden Town style markets.

Everyone is invited; especially your dog.
