“A Collage For The Most Famous Club In The World” – The Cavern Club at 60

The Cavern Club is sixty years old in 2017.  Members of the press and Liverpool’s music community are invited to The Cavern’s offices on North John Street to witness the unveiling of a collage created by local artist Philip Hayes to celebrate the Club’s 60th Birthday. Philip has previously produced collages for CREAM nightclub, The Farm, Cast, and is working with the Hillsborough campaign, local festivals, music venues and Unite the Union at the present time.

Bill Heckle and Dave Jones, Cavern City Directors commissioned the collage as part of the commemorative events ahead of the World’s Most Famous Club’s 60th Anniversary in 2017.

Philip Hayes said, “I was delighted to be asked by Dave and Bill to produce the collage to celebrate the Club’s 60th Anniversary, it’s a great honour. I have used a variety of my own photographs, memorabilia and pictures from the Club’s archives. I have tried to the best of my ability to pay tribute to the venue, its pivotal and historical role and also to the many artists who have played at the Club since 1957”.

The unique artifact will take pride of place in the Cavern’s City Centre office adjacent to Mathew Street, where it all began.
